You do not decorate a palace. You decide which parts of it people should be looking at, and then you light those.

The wedding itself was set outdoors with the hills behind it — a mandap of white and blush columns run in a long approach, the aisle left deliberately wide so the walk read against the landscape rather than against a backdrop. Cold-spark fountains marked the entry and then stopped. Everything else was flower and daylight.

The sandstone

The fort courtyards needed almost nothing. We used the existing doorways as frames, kept the party standing rather than seated in them, and let the stone carry the colour it already has at four in the afternoon.

Two very different evenings

The sangeet was staged against the palace façade — a wide, low platform so the band and the family shared the same floor, elephant statuary left lit but undressed, and the whole elevation washed rather than spotlit. The after-party went the other way entirely: a mirrored tunnel in blue and magenta neon, a hard edit from everything that came before it.

The send-off

Rooftop pyro across the full width of the façade, then balloons on the drive. Two minutes, and the only two minutes of the week where the design was allowed to be loud.
