Shivangi × Achin

The brief was a family one: the older generation wanted the palace to look like itself, and the couple wanted one function that was completely theirs.

So we split the week. The wedding day stayed in the palace’s own register — blush, ivory and the yellow of the façade, marble courtyards left open, planting and candlelight instead of built structure. The haldi got everything else.

The haldi

Fringed canopies in fuchsia, coral and marigold hung low over a floor of rose and gold; guests in the same palette so the whole courtyard read as one photograph from above. Turmeric and petals were staged in baskets around the seating rather than carried in, which is the difference between a ritual and a queue.

The wedding

Arcaded corridors, chequerboard marble, and a bride who walked the length of them. We dressed the route and left the rooms alone. The evening entrance was lit stair by stair up to the façade so arrival happened in stages.

The sangeet

Courtyard, low seating, and a lighting plan that used the building as the set — deep blue and magenta across the elevation, warm on the faces, nothing in between.
